Nobody does weird quite like Editors. When a band is on tour, boredom can set in. For some, this is their cue to dive into the narcotics cupboard and generally make a huge mess of things. Some bands, however, actually lose their minds (as a group) and start acting on the crazy impulses and suggestions that their excitement-starved brains offer them. With that in mind, we come to the Subterranean Tour Blogs.
Words cannot accurately express the sheer level of wonderful stupidity of these diaries. The band were touring with Ra Ra Riot and agreed to send dispatches of their adventures on the road for inclusion on the Subterranean website. I'm not sure what we were expecting as fans. Maybe lots of photos of the road, the band looking soulfully out of the tourbus window and generally writing about how much they miss home? It just didn't go down that way at all. These diaries are fantastic, and I know I say that about most Editors stuff but goodness me, you NEED to see these. I collected them as full webpages at the time and they're all neatly packed into a handy zip file. What will you be getting if you choose to download? How about the following:-
- Moustaches, lots of fabulous moustaches
- Superhero costumes
- The mysterious Marcelo Inconspicuoso, a fiendish scoundrel (who looks a lot like Chris)
- Table Tennis
- Wigs (see above)
Do you really need any more persuasion? One thing is for sure, there's no way you can view these files and then go back to looking at the band as a gloomy bunch of cats (if that was your initial impression of them). It's just impossible. You will never see take them 100% seriously again and I think that's a very, very healthy thing. Anyway that's enough of my yacking, download below:-
