Radio Fritz Acoustic Session 9th March 2018

Just one day after I mentioned that the Radio Fritz session had yet to emerge...this happened. Of course it's purely coincidental because I have no leverage at all in these matters,  but what a lovely surprise to end the Easter weekend on. Thank you, Radio Fritz. This was an unexpected treat. To keep the theme of being grateful going, thanks very much to you, Miloriblau. We're lucky to have "our people" all over the world with their eyes open for this kind of thing ;)

This was taped on the same day that Justin, Tom and Elliott stopped by FluxFm to perform a set for them as part a German promotional visit, on the 9th March 2018. Not only did Radio Fritz record the band but they also filmed them performing, which is wonderful. That elevator at the beginning of the video, however is utterly hideous. One wrong step and you are on your arse, boss. I guess I'm a traditionalist when it comes to devices that move me between floors. I expect doors, many buttons and some soothing yet cheesy musak. I expect to make no eye contact, to stare straight ahead and feel terribly uncomfortable when even a single person is in there with me. I need my space, and the amount I need just increases whenever I get confined. But these lifts that the band use in this clip? Forget about it. No way. I'll take the stairs.

Where was I?

Oh yeah, the session. So we've waited just under a month but it was worth it. I hate loose ends and I fully expected this to just be a radio broadcast and nothing more. But, as with Studio Brussel, Radio Fritz has really made an effort to support the band and show them in their best light. They've put together this black and white film that lasts just over 21 minutes, showing the band performing in an open studio setting.  This is a recurring theme so far in the campaign; a lot of people going out of their way to support them this time around. I don't know if this is just a change in attitudes generally of if the benefits of longevity are finally paying off? If you stick around long enough, even your harshest and most dismissive critics may reevaluate their positions? Whatever the reason it's nice to see some appreciation coming their way.

The set features Justin, Tom and Elliott on the first 4 numbers and then Mr Smith flying solo for Blood. Enjoy the music ;)
