A short but sweet feature courtesy of Alcaline from the 21st March with Tom talking about the new album. Be prepared to wince uncomfortably, sigh with a volume that dislodges the birds out of the trees and shake your head as a comparison with a certain Manchester band is brought up yet again. Yep, even in 2018 and a full 13 years after The Back Room was released, we're still using redundant reference points to try and categorise the band. Progress? Nope. If only they'd go ahead and release that free-jazz/calypso hybrid album they've secretly been working on (featuring Sean Paul on steel drums and Ed Sheeran on kazoo), the Joy Division references would surely go away? Maybe. Possibly. Nah, probably not.
The entire thing is dubbed into French so if you're familiar with that language, this one's for you. The rest of us can only sit quietly, smiling politely and acknowledging in our own minds that this is one language (like Italian) that just seems to make everything said sound so much more sexy. Enjoy the chatter ;)
brought to you with lots and lots of lemming-love :) x
