Here's the band's set from Lollapalooza Paris, 23rd July 2017. Another outing under the harsh scrutiny of daylight. Yikes! It's stating the obvious, but the more shows we get to hear at the moment then the more opportunity we have to really get to know the new songs. And as I've said before, it offers us a chance to compare live versions of the tracks, and appreciate the subtleties that sometimes get lost in different mixes. It's also a nice feeling to go from them being completely new to being able to sing along with them, however atrocious it may sound to the neighbours.
An hour long set meant that some of the songs that were included in slightly longer festival slots, like ERM=BD and Sugar have been dropped by the wayside. Interesting that exactly half the setlist is made up of songs from Editors Mk2. I'm actually listening to this again as I'm typing and I have to say that this version of Hallelujah (So Low) sounds sensational. Similarly to other shows they've played on the festival campaign, they really do seem to come alive when they're delivering the newer material. There's an undeniable power to them, which can only be a positive indicator for the impending arrival of E6. Enjoy the music ;)

Even on the radio, strong beard game is in full effect! Taken from the Colin Murray show on Amazing Radio, here's Elliott and Justin talking backstage at Lollapalooza Paris on the 23rd July 2017.
There a lot of chat about their current status in terms of recording, which will apparently be continuing in September. But let's not forget that our Lady of the Blessed Insider Info, EdiBow, had a theory that something was going to be released over the summer, possibly just a single track. So we're not quite there yet, but we're within sight of the finish line. They also reveal, without actually revealing anything, that there are collaborators on the new record which we're not aware of yet. Hmmmmm. Maybe that long-whispered Jedward collaboration will finally come to pass? I really, really hope not.
Both Editors consider In Dream to be a more downbeat kind of album, whereas they view E6 as a more upbeat record, or Happy/Sad as Elliott calls it. There's a feeling here that the new record will be a taking off record rather than a landing one, if we're using airport analogies. Just a warning, if you own a sarcasm radar then you'll be needing new batteries by the end of this interview, as Mr Lockey in particular makes a joke or four at the expense of the band's legendary reputation as mopey-cats:-
"No-one ever talks to us because we're all too moody."
Also look out for a new word to add to your vocabulary when describing the band and their music; Moodcore. Because they never smile and they're all moody to the core. And you better know this, good people.
Very, very interesting to hear that Editors actually had a hand in selecting the lineup for the upcoming Beyond the Tracks festival in Birmingham. Surely this makes the possibility of inter-band shenanigans even more likely now? Cross those fingers and toes.
As is usually the case with radio interviews, they played some officially released music which I've cunningly edited out in the interests of not ripping the band off. Enjoy the chat ;)
brought to you with lots and lots of lemming-love :) x
