Southside Festival 22nd June 2007

"You sound amazing...and you look good too. Honestly." - Tom to the crowd after Bullets

This is Editors at Southside Festival in June of 2007. You can tell that they were still making their mark at this show, only being allotted enough space to briskly trot through 8 tracks. They would do the festival again 6 years later, almost exactly to the day, in June 2013 and would manage to squeeze in an extra 4 songs as their increased live stature bought them more time.

I can't remember where I sourced this from but it appears to have been a German radio broadcast. They did that thing which a lot of radio stations do, in that they gave an intro in the language of the country of origin and then dropped idents all the way through the show. As we know, this absolutely deters bootlegers from sharing the material.

The way this was mixed shows a definite preference towards the 6 stringed instruments. There are times when you can hear Tom a lot more than other shows, like his choppy guitar work in the intro to Munich. Then there's the section of Racing Rats at 2 minutes and 33 seconds, where Mr Urbanowicz seems to have temporarily swapped out his Rickenbacker for a small jet engine. It is awesome in its volume. All of this and three very classy "Tom Swears" moments make it the best way to relive a great gig. There's single MP3s with as much of the fat trimmed off as possible in terms of "radio interference", but if you want to experience it exactly as it was on the night it aired, I've also included the unedited broadcast with its German introduction.

Enjoy the music, everyone ;)
