Musilac Festival 10th July 2016 (FLAC Audio)

"People embrace the same ideas....throw it away....let's make pretend"

If you're one of the lucky folks travelling to see Editors play at Siren Festival tonight, you can get your ears in the mood by listening to this recording from just over a week ago at Musilac. I don't have any taper details for this so if this is you, please drop me a line so I can give you the proper credit. Files are being posted here unaltered and in their original FLAC format, in accordance with the taper's wishes.

This is a fine audio document of another one of the summer dates covering the end of the wider In Dream campaign, and if ever there was a focal point for these concerts it's certainly been the song The Pulse. As I've said before, this could be an indicator of future musical directions or it may be a classic Editors red-herring. If, for example, the first live airings of 2 Hearted Spider and The Sting in 2012 acted as your musical GPS to The Weight of You Love and it's overall sound, and you'd followed it, you'd have probably ended up driving into the sea by accident. They were way off. So once again, we just don't know. However, the band have hinted in interviews that the eventual recorded version may well be shorter in length, as they often tend to overstretch themselves in the initial songwriting phase (also in a recent interview, this time with Drowned in Sound, King Leetch stated that the earliest demo of Munich was over 6 minutes long). So these live recordings that we've been lucky enough to get lately are an opportunity to hear The Pulse before it eventually gets "edited".

Yep, I just did that.

Enjoy the music ;)
