**Updates done. Enjoy the show ;)**
Here's Editors' debut show as part of the In Dream campaign, which took place in Düsseldorf on the 28th of September 2015. I suppose the real problem with taking a record that was so meticulously crafted in the confines of a studio on the road, will be finding a way to infuse it with all the necessary energy and power that a large audience demands. They've clearly considered this dilemma, as there are a number of new wrinkles on display in some of the older material as well as the new songs. We saw the band do that in the past with Papillon, which is now a distant cousin of its studio relative when played live. All the Kings has a brief moment where everything just stops at the end of the second verse. It doesn't last long, but it breaks the rhythm and creates this little moment of tension. There are keyboard flourishes all over songs like An End Has a Start and Blood, and Marching Orders has some added drum work from Ed which gives it something extra and different from the hypnotic studio take. The arrangement of Ocean of Night has been changed already and, sadly, La Goswell isn't present (but that has to happen down the line somewhere, surely?).
I don't know if this was explicitly the idea behind the promotion of In Dream, but it seems to have worked out that the unveiling of so many songs prior to the actual release date has acted as a solid primer for the live shows. Fans turning up for the German album launch shows will have known the majority of the new songs played, which will have reduced that occasionally awkward times where the crowd aren't familiar with a track and don't give much of a reaction. It's as though Editors have deliberately played to their strengths, of being a great live act, by laying all the groundwork for their gigs way in advance. Smart cookies.
As is usually the case with these audience recordings, all credit goes to the taper who bought the ticket and then documented the evening for the rest of us. This time out, creamcheese was the one with the microphone and for that I'm very grateful. Thank you. The files being shared here are in their original FLAC format in accordance with the taper's wishes. Enjoy the music, and hope you're all having a great week ;)
