Berlin SO36 Radioeins broadcast 29th September 2015

From Radioeins, here's Editors at the SO36 club in Berlin 29th September 2015. With this being a highlights broadcast it only contains the first hour of the show, and even though we were promised the full set somewhere down the line...we're still waiting.

I've said it so many times before, but it really need repeating; you shouldn't ever judge an Editors record until you've heard it live. Even though this set is truncated and frustratingly unfinished in this broadcast, you still learn an awful lot. No Harm sounds epic live, which is strange because it loses a lot of the closed-in claustrophobia that makes the recorded version so menacing. But it really does work here. There were a few subtle changes made to some older numbers, including some string parts from the second verse of An End Has A Start onwards. Elliott also used the keys as percussion during parts of Blood.

Mercifully, Tom appeared to have gotten past the foul malady that had plagued him for the early part of September in 2015, but there's still that raspiness to his voice which seemed to be sticking around for a little longer. Was this a bad thing? Maybe not, but I wouldn't want him to spend any more time in the land of the unwell just to get it.

There's a couple of comedy moments, the first one being someone in the crowd getting a little worried at not being able to see King Leetch and saying "Where's Russell?" prior to No Harm. Just before Munich Mr Smith addresses the crowd with "Smile everybody! You're on the radio!". Anyway, enough jibber-jabber. If the full set ever appears I'll get it to you.  But for now......
