July was a month of looking forward and also casting a fleeting glance backwards, as we celebrated 10 years of The Back Room. Many congratulations to Tom, Chris, Russell and Ed for creating something which has been a soundtrack to a lot of lives, and which still stands up to repeated listening a decade later.
We didn't get many snaps from Team Editors on the Instagram account in July, but we did get an announcement that finally ended a prolonged pause that started after the campaign for The Weight of Your Love ended. We now have an album title, In Dream, and a release date which is October 2nd. We even got a message from Mr Smith regarding the new record via the band's official website:-

A note from Tom on 'In Dream':
"Our new record is called In Dream, it's out in October. Our last record was the sound of us learning to walk again, with new legs! In Dream, our first self produced album, is us diving into the computer, a real studio record, made in isolation by the 5 of us. Can't wait for you all to hear it. TX"
There have already been a significant "plumbing issue" with this record, however, with a DJ Stateside playing a new track a little bit prematurely. Ocean of Night was available for about two minutes and then vanished (but two minutes is usually all you need in catch stuff out here in cyberspace), before resurfacing like a sparkly pop virus across the interwebs. It's the first chance we get to hear Lady Goswell get vocal, and she has much more to do here than in previous collaborations with bands like Chapterhouse on their Pearl single, for example. There are still another couple of songs she features on during In Dream that we've yet to hear, but she's most definitely present.
At this stage we've heard about half of the new album in one form or another (live, remixed etc), and Ocean of Night would appear to be the clearest indication yet that In Dream is aiming directly at the heart of the mainstream. Possibly.
