Wireless Festival 17th June 2007 (audio/video)

Here's some audio of Editors' appearance at the Wireless Festival, at Hyde Park in London in June of 2007. This recording features one of the best live performances of Blood Editors have ever done, in my opinion. The rest of the gig is good but, for whatever reason, Blood just soars when they play it. Some have said that Editors managed to steal the show from the Kaiser Chiefs on the night with this set and after listening back to it again, those people may have a point.

Another plus point for me is the amount of feedback during this show. Having grown up on the Jesus and Mary Chain,  My Bloody Valentine and most of the other Creation bands I'm ruined for life in terms of guitar noise. It's a beautiful thing. The fact that this was ripped from a radio broadcast only serves to make the experience sweeter. Editors' sound has been honed to a much smoother tone over the years but in 2007 they were still ragged as all hell. Saying that, there is always the Hallelujah Death Riff (c) Justin Lockey to temper my insatiable appetite for ear drum abuse these days. Enjoy the music ;)

Bonus Materials
I have a small video file of the entire set, which would normally be a cause for celebration. But I'm afraid I can't be anything other than honest with you and tell you that it's a bit crap. That's why it's down here in the seedy basement of "bonus materials", instead of the lofty upper penthouse space of this post.  The stream for this show was appalling and, it being over 10 years ago, is lacking the necessary sleek HD sexiness that we're used to nowadays.  However, I am aware that there will be some of you who just have to see it to satisfy your collector cravings, so here it is as a download.  It's an asf video file but and it plays fine through VLC, if you have any troubles.

NME Interview Tom + Russell

By way of bonus material we some interviews; beginning with one by the NME. Then there's a chat with a guy from Fender and a brief encounter with Alex Zane. The quality on the videos isn't as shiny as we'd all like but they're watchable nonetheless. The backstage interviews with the Mr Zane and the NME contain some comedy gold, in particular when we discover what the most evil thing Tom has ever done is and what Russell's plans to do to become more mechanically mobile. Driving a car? Not just yet. First, he must fly...

Alex Zane Interview
For some reason there are hardcoded subtitles on the Alex Zane interview, and I have absolutely no clue as to why that is.  I hope that doesn't spoil your enjoyment.
