Up next is an absolutely cracking show from Vienna. For an audience recording it sounds fantastic, and the taper Mr Ruin has done a great job (thanks to you for sharing this, sir). The files are all in their original FLAC format in accordance with his wishes.
A glance at the setlist shows that they gave the b-sides Let Your Good Heart Lead You Home and Banging Heads another airing on this occasion. It always strikes me that Banging Heads was consigned to history a little prematurely. It occupied a space between 2007 and 2008 and then I think it was more or less replaced by Lullaby from 2008 to 2009. Maybe it will resurface one day? I think with Justin and Elliott adding guitar to it live, as well as some backing vocals, it could be a bit of a wrecking-ball. Just so we're clear I meant that in a sonic sense, rather than a creepy looking Miley Cyrus swinging about in her lady-pants and vest kinda way. Just so we're clear.
If you listen to this with headphones on then you can really here the walls. I'm aware of just how odd that sounds but what I mean is that the environment is a noticeable factor. After a summer spent listening to them playing festivals in 2017, this recording has a feeling of being more compressed. The sound seems to stay in the room as opposed to moving out, across people and then away from the stage. It reminds me of seeing them in these early tours, and how you really had nowhere to go to get away from the noise coming off the stage. Not a bad thing.
By way of an introduction to the set, here's an extract from the taper's own notes:-

"Good show, better than I thought, and excellent sound. That's about the gist of the show. The crowd was happy yet not ecstatic in the near to sold out Arena in Vienna. The band delivered and while the show lasted "only" 75 minutes I felt it was just the right length. After all they played 17 songs, they are all just very short. Anyhow, the recording turned out very well (notice, no EQ or any of my usual mastering stuff applied on this one! Its "pure" except for a little normalising) so check it out if you like the band. I think its worth it."
It sure is. This one's dedicated to Austrian super-fan Natalie. Hope life is good for you, and that you're still around out there and doing your thing. Enjoy the music ;)

Blood (Redux)
This is another one of my occasional fix-up jobs where I take an Editors video from back in the day that had some audio problems and give it a brand new look. This time it's a reworking of Blood from their Vienna gig in 2007. It was originally shot by apis38 and you can the source material here. As you'll hear there was some blowout due to volume, but I managed to sync a new audio track in there and it sounds a little softer to the ear this time around. I guess this is really for the truly fanatical, among whom I proudly count myself. If you're also a member of that particular club...
brought to you with lots and lots of lemming-love :) x
