This gig was the last in a set of 5 that the band played in 2012, arguably one of the most difficult years in their history at that point. Chris was gone, the album 4 sessions had collapsed, Sony didn't want to hear any new demos, they almost split up prior to Werchter etc etc. They rounded off this tumultuous time with a show for XFM (now Radio X) as part of their Winter Wonderland gig on the 17th December. It's from the shows in 2012 that Editors Mk2 came into being, and this gig was an opportunity to air a couple of new tracks in A Ton of Love and Formaldehyde. Nothing had already debuted at the Birmingham shows in June of 2012 (as had the extended take on Papillon), but there were still some last minute changes on the way for it. The lyrics would be trimmed down slightly, with the "poison dart to my heart" section getting cut back a little, and Mr Smith would abandon the mandolin. Of course, these weren't anything compared to that one major change that happened when Nothing finally made it into the studio and onto E4, but that's another story for a different day ;)

XFM Q&A Videos
These videos were posted on the XFM website at the time of the concert, and feature a number of artists answering the all important questions of the day. They earned an instant worldwide block on YouTube when I tried to share them there so here they are as downloads. Pay particular attention to Russell's sporting prediction for 2013. Spooky.
