BBC 6 Music Session 19th June 2007 (audio/video)

An acoustic/electro session from June of 2007 now, with Editors performing a short set at BBC 6 Music's The Hub show. The picture quality is a little shabby but, unfortunately,  that's exactly how it was broadcast back in the day. It contains versions of Bones and Smokers, as well as an interview with the guys about the impending release of An End Has a Start. They also mention the gig that was halted by police on the 13th of June in Cologne at Kulturkirche,  after local people called in the authorities to stop all that pesky rocking and a-rolling. I remember that this story was a little bit sensationalised at the time, with the headlines talking about "Armed Police" which made it sound like a gig by 80's hardcore band Black Flag was being raided. Still, an interesting moment in the band's history.

I know I say this all the time here at the blog, but Bones is once again my favourite track here. It does what Editors songs tend to do best, namely they can roll right over you when they're performed fully electrically but they can also be extremely delicate. Russell provides piano instead of his usual bass and when it's combined with Chris' lead guitar, Tom's strumming and Ed's rhythm-keeping using a shaker it just makes everything kind of...ripple along. And it's always fun to watch Tom in restrained, acoustic mode as opposed to the tornado that we normally see spinning around the stage. I love it, and I'm pretty confident that you will too ;)
