Melkweg Amsterdam - 19th October 2005

This photo of Tom for this post was loaned to me by a kind soul who was there in the audience on the night, armed with his trusty camera. Thanks a lot Martijn, really appreciate it. Martijn is a photographer, amongst other things, and he's done some really excellent shots, more of which you can check out at his website here http://www.martijnmiddel.nl/

And you can see more of his snaps of Editors/Howling Bells at the Melkweg here:-

Originally recorded and shared on the web by skttrwave (thank you), this is Editors delivering a great set at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. It's interesting to note that Open Your Arms is no longer the set closer, as it was on a lot of the previous shows, but it's Fingers in the Factories instead. In terms of being the last song you play to an audience, Fingers is pretty much an ideal choice. It starts off at a reasonable pace and just builds into this beast of a crescendo. I remember seeing the group for the first time at the Newcastle Carling Academy in 2006 and they finished with Fingers. The last note was bashed out and Tom walked to the front of the stage and saluted the crowd, before being grabbed in a bear-hug by Chris and lifted off to the side of the stage. Editors gig number 1 for me, and it was at this point that I officially became "smitten". But I digress...
