One more gift from Hannah. Thanks again.
This is a session that Tom recorded for Radio Ulster, as part of the Stephen McCauley show broadcast on the 7th November 2025. Contained within are three songs and an extended interview with Tom.
Stephen asks a lot of good questions here, which brings out some interesting answers. There's a delightful contradiction in hearing about one particular driver underpinning the creation of Tom's solo record. He states that the primary motivator was one of selfishness, of wanting to be less collaborative with others. Yet later on in the interview he mentions that as well as Iain Archer being a producer, he collaborated with him on the songwriting, and especially lyrically. This pushed him to greater heights, so much so that without Iain, he goes on, the album would never have come together.
I've said before that I love hearing about the structures of songs being assembled, and this is an excellent example of that. Enjoy the show ;)
